Alexandria Graves, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Soil and Environmental Microbiology with the Department of Soil Science at North Carolina State University. In addition to the DE 532 course in Soil Microbiology, she also teaches a face to face course SSC 332 Environmental Soil Microbiology to undergraduate students. Before coming to NC State, Alexandria was a post doctoral researcher and assistant instructor for Soil Microbiology at Texas A&M University.
A Virginia Tech alumna, Alexandria received her MS in 2000 and her Ph.D. in 2003. Both degrees were earned in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences. Alexandria’s research as a graduate student has blossomed into a career. Her research interests cover several aspects of environmental microbiology including fate and transport of microbial pathogens in the environment, determining sources of fecal pollution in water as well as public health issues related to food and water contaminated with feces.
